Maybe they'll record again one day... At IBR 2004 I spent a good long time talking to Chris Xefos about XTC and why they are the coolest. Maybe next year Chris and his buddies can perform "Skylarking" at the Eagle... that would be cool!

"Wasp Star" was the second half of their RETURN to recording after a 7-year strike to get out of their contract to Virgin. I suppose they migh tbe on strike against themselves now; "Apple Venus" was out in 1999, and "Wasp Star" followed in 2000. Siunce then, all that's come out have been complations of demos, mostly released through their website.

Sounds like Todd Rundgren left more of a dent than just production on Skylarking. ☻

They used to complain about Rundgren's production technique, but in retrospect they seem pretty happy with the results. "Skylarking" is still their most cohesive album, IMHO.

I've been an XTC fan since 1982... best band of the '80's, IMHO.

Best band of the 80s and most underrated band!
I got into them with the Nigel single but English Settlement was the first LP I bought of theirs. I guess around 1980??? Over the years I have collect most of the singles. The first issues with the special versions. Love to hear them finish the bubblegum album or another Dukes!

At this point I just wish they'd record SOMETHING! It's been what, 5 years? That's almost as long as they were "on strike" in the '90's to get away from Virgin. Are they on strike from themselves now??
