That BITCH Katrina Ruined EVERYTHING!

I was supposed to be heading to New Orleans first thing tomorrow for almost a solid week of Convergence playtime... but I've been given to understand that New Orleans is closed for repairs.

So what, pray tell, is daddy gonna do with his days off?

We're going to Canada. A quick net search revealed a couple options for the weekend, and the pieces all just seemed to fall into place for the Lay Bear Day Weekend in Toronto.

So Thursday morning we're off to Canada, which I haven't visited since 1976 or so. I'm really looking forward to it, especially as I'll get to spend time with [livejournal.com profile] danthered and meet [livejournal.com profile] bitterlawngnome. I can't WAIT!

And on Saturday night at O'Grady's, before the Woobie Bear performers take the stage, I'll be hoisting a few drinks in honor of Convergence in Exile. If you're anywhere near by, please join me!

For those of us who won't be doing anything of significance due to cancellations... do everything decadent 10 times over and have a blast. You're obviously a man who knows how to enjoy himself!

Looking forward to meeting you!!

My roomie [livejournal.com profile] bearcubbnc mentioned to me that you were going to head up to Toronto instead of to New Orleans. I hope we get to say hello - I'll be up visiting Jon this weekend as well and plan to be at O'Grady's.

It was great meeting you. You're even BETTER looking in person.

Swoon!

That BITCH Katrina Ruined EVERYTHING!

Including hundreds of thousands of people's homes?

I realize that mere text doesn't do a very good job of conveying the shadings of irony and sarcasm I meant to convey in that subject line.

I was using a self-absorbed middle-school-diva voice. Next time I'll remember to add the appropriate tags:
[self-absorbed middle-school-diva voice]That BITCH Katrina Ruined EVERYTHING![/self-absorbed middle-school-diva voice].

I hoped readers would understand that I wasn't serious. My bad.

When I composed that post, I considered adding the politically correct boilerplate about the magnitude of the tragedy and pleas for prayers for the afflicted, but decided against what I consider to be hollow gestures, considering how overused they've been in the last couple of days. Those in Katrina's wake don't need sympathy, they need MONEY. So send them some money and save the platitudes for church.

*hugs* I noticed the sarcasm in parts of it. But I've also had a couple other friends post things which haven't been terribly uh... tactful so I wasn't sure.

Oh yes, I think I remember that incident... I think I called one of your friends on what I perceived to be an insensitive post.

So I accept my stripes and beg forgiveness for committing the same sin...

Hello....from Rochester, NY. Across Lake Ontario.

I have just seen the pics that [livejournal.com profile] bitterlawngnome has taken of you. As always, he does a great job.
I hope you have a good time in Toronto.

I too was going to Southern Decadence and Convergence. I'd been planning this trip for well over a year. Both events during the same time- How could life get any better? Guess the cards just weren't there. A slam dose of reality hit.

I feel for New Orleans, the town just won't be the same. And my heart goes out to those who lost loved ones. Such a tradgedy.
