Rickie Lee Jones
Feb. 28th, 2007 07:07 amRon and I, and our friend Anthony (aka Ida Slappedher of the Utah Cyber Sluts saw Rickie Lee Jones at The Depot last night.
I've been a fan since the first time I heard "Chuck E.'s in Love) back in 1979. Ron's also a long-time fan. Anthony was unfamiliar with her work (we invited him because Boy John couldn't use the ticket we'd bought for him.) Anthony is now a fan! Yay!
It was a good show; Rickie was having some technical issue (stage monitors weren't working to her satisfaction; the mix was wrong and she was drowned out by the instruments at times) and some Rickie issues (obnoxious drunk girl right down front dancing badly and conversing noisily with a friend -- Rickie eventually told her to shut up or leave. It was glorious!)
The show was great. Rickie and her band did a bunch of new songs from her new CD, which I didn't even know existed. Now I must track it down!
I also had issues with members of the audience; 2 couples at the next table were laughing and conversing so loudly that I eventually snapped and got up and asked them to PLEASE shut up! What's wrong with people today that they are so rude at performances? NOBODY pays $25 or $35 to look at or hear the other audience members! Have a little respect for the other patrons, is all I'm saying...
I also picked up tickets for my next Depot show last night: April 18th, Lindsey Buckingham! I'm jacked!
