Staying in SF
I booked a room at the Best Western Civic Center (The "Best Western Lone Star") for Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights. Saturday the city is apparently full, and I can't seem to find a reasonably-priced room anywhere north of the airport. So that will be a good night to go exploring!
I've wanted to see the Winchester Mystery House ever since I read Tim Powers's "Earthquake Weather." This looks like my perfect opportunity to drive down to San Jose, see the house and spend a night down that-a-way before returning to SF on Sunday for John's performance. Anyone want to go with?

hey buddy
I just talked to the Griffster and you are more than welcome to crash at our place for that night.
As long as you like doggies.
Re: hey buddy
Definitely for lunch and Winchester House on Saturday, then. I'm looking forward to seeing you!
Re: hey buddy
Lunch and the Winchester House would be fun...there are some good restaurants across the street at Santana Row and also there is a FLAMES coffee shop next door
Winchester Mystery
we should shoot for noonish for lunch, and the house after...? How long will it take me to drive down from SF?
Re: Winchester Mystery
We should just eat at FLAMES because it will be easy to get into that place at noon...and the bears eat there often so it is a good place.
I will love going to the Mystery House with some bears.

It is in Oakland, I believe (don't have the details but it has to be decent).
