He did some amazing work, and will always be remembered for "The Prisoner".
I will always smile when I think of the story told by a clerk at a bookstore in West Los Angeles who recognized the actor as a customer, and wanted to acknowledge him, but not be an annoying "fan boy". The clerk recalled the greeting always used by residents of "The Village" in the series, and so finished up the sales transaction by saying, "Be seeing you." Without missing a beat, McGoohan smiled, and gave the standard reply, "And you."
It was a perfect example of the way he was; clever, gracious and understated.
