I hadn't even been here 10 minutes when I get my first "SNAP!" of IBR...

I'm getting out of the SuperShuttle van in front of the hotel when I notice a couple guys coming out onto the sidewalk. This is a couple I know; an older daddybear and his decades-younger cub.

I've played with the cub at past bear runs, so we know each other.

Anyway, I'm trying to make eyecontact with them while simultaneously getting my bags and paying the shuttle driver. Finally, on the third try, I catch the cub's attention. He sidles over and says "I didn't recognize you..."

He then leans back on one heel, gives me a long, slow, apprising look from head to toe (and back again) and in a tone of voice that tells me he doesn't think it's a good thing, says "Wow, you've REALLY lost a lot of weight..."

**SIGH!**

The day improved; I had a haircut from Greg the Barber, then ate french fries with Bigredpaul while he ate eggs benedict. We then had a long heart-to-heart about his new romance. Paul seems very happy; I think it's a good thing!

Later on I hung out with Doyle from Salt Lake (a bear run "virgin," who seems to be having a great time.) We ran into Van & Ron from Denver, Ali from Baltimore, Dave and Gary from Toronto, and finally the world-renowned Hank from Guernville. Hank is not only one of the best-looking men I've ever set eyes on, but he's funny as hell.

Tomorrow should be a lot of fun. I can't wait for the SHE.L.O performance at the Eagle tomorrow night. YAY!

Ok. One thing I had to learn the hard way when I lost a lot of weight a few years back is that some people are just programmed to be threatened by folks who can achieve weight loss. Whether they look down on it because they cant achieve it themselves or if they feel threatened by someone with the willpower and tenacity to make big changes; it all boils down to the same thing...little comments and slurs that are designed to make you question yourself and slip back into old patterns.

Well fuck that. Loosing weight can help you live longer and improve your quality of life. Being pencil thin isnt the goal. Being healthier and happier with yourself is no matter what size pants you're wearing. Don't even think twice about this putz... There are issues at play here but they're his, not yours.
