I bumped into a copy of this at Barnes & Noble tonight, while looking for this. I had no idea it was back in print.

I first read Song of the Loon in about 1991; my roommate had a copy of the Greenleaf Library edition from the '60's, which he suggested I might like. I fell in love with it, and the sequel, Song of Aaron. I didn't read the third volume, Listen, the Loon Sings, until I found a text copy online many years later.

I bought both books.

Omg!! A lifetime ago, when I had the bookstore, I owned all three of those in first edition. The first editions were dime store mass market paperbacks... I sold them a few years back....

You do know that those were the FIRST books published by an American publisher that were not only gay themed, but specifically written for a gay audience, right?

There was one other book written by a student of Gertrude Stein's that wrote this horridly unreadable thing about a year before, but technically, Shakespear and Company was in France... So...

I would kill. KILL! for first editions of the Loon Songs trilogy. I wonder what they go for?

Between $75 and $150 per volume, according to ABEbooks.com. **SIGH!**
