So, as some of you might be aware, I have a rather extensive collection of Star Trek memorabilia.

When I collect something, I tend to be a completist. So it's somewhat surprising that I've never accumulated a complete run of the Gold Key Star Trek comics. I have every other Star Trek comic ever published -- from Marvel, DC, Malibu, Marvel (again), Wildstorm, Tokyopop and IDW. But I'd never completed my collction of Gold Key, which published Trek comics between 1967 & 1979. I had a partial run: issues 39-61 -- the first 38 issues were collected in 4 trades back in the '70's, so when I started collecting Trek comics back in the '80's, I bought the trades, and never got around to augmenting my collection with the original issues.

Until last week, when I purchased a complete, 61-issue run at a very attractive price on eBay. They arrived on my doorstep on Friday. I spent all afternoon Sunday placing them in mylar protective sleeves, choosing the better of the ones that were duplicated (the dupes of 39-61 will go up on eBay as soon as I get around to it.)

I then spent several more hours going through much of the rest of the comic collection, replacing bags that had become tattered over the years, and basically making it as presentable as I could. It was a good day!

With this acquisition, I now have complete runs of Star Trek comics, books, Playmates action figures... there's no room to put any more stuff!

When I started reading this post, I thought maybe I should send you a starship or two. Oh Well.

So what the next collection you are building?
(please don't tell me it's "Helly Kitty."

I have the 4 Gold Key collections... and only kept them as an example of what NOT to bother with in my fannish zeal. Those things are awful! *shudder*

I hope some of the other series were better....

By the way - do you have the Star Trek Primer: A Child's Garden of Space, or my eRestoration of it?

A completest. *sigh* There are reasons why when we tell people we don't have room for guests, we are telling the truth.

I have about 80 of the Playmates figures, all loose, and they are in a box.I recently lifted the lid off the box only to be almost choked by the fumes.I have read they are made of a type of plastic which is not good to have around, and only some of the figures leak fumes.

I didn't know that.

All my loose Playmates figures are in bins that haven't been opened in, I don't know, 8 years or so. I imagine the fumes must be getting pretty intense!
