We just watched Cold Comfort Farm again, for like the 10th time. Got the DVD from Netflix.

Absolutely wonderful film. Before she became an Action Heroine, Kate Beckinsale did some marvelous work as "that Robert Poste's child" in this movie.

If you haven't seen it, and if you like British humor, give it a shot. I think I need to just buy this DVD and put it in the library.

and if you like British humor

I like SOME British humour... it's not "make this character as annoying as possible because annoyance = funny" British humour, is it? :: laugh ::

No, it's more the "Oh dear, oh dear -- this will NEVER do!" kind of British humo(u)r.

Favorite quote I paused the movie to jot down tonight:

"Nature's all very well in her place, but she mustn't be allowed to make things untidy."

But did it see you?

Yes. We like Cold Comfort Farm. It's Amusing or Diverting but never Such Fun.

The book is even better. The author, Stella Gibbon, wrote it in the early 1930's and set it in "the future" (for some unknown reason, as it doesn't seem necessary). Very odd to see how differently things actually turned out.
