Where the Emo Things Are
Oct. 19th, 2009 06:34 amSo, we saw "Where the Wild Things Are" yesterday afternoon. I can't ever remember seeing a movie that had more big, heavy sighs in it.
Or a worse load of shoegazing weepy emo folk-rock soundtrack.
It was well shot, the "Things" were great to look at, the acting was good -- the kid playing Max was really good. But I feel like the actors and filmmakers were let down by a bad script. Somebody get the screenwriters a prescription for Prozac!
I pretty much hated it, when I really, really wanted to like it.

Date: 2009-10-21 06:49 pm (UTC)I was 6 years old then.
Maurice Sandek's illustrations were fun!
I have yet to see the movie, but will do so sometime.
BTW, did you know that Sandek is 80 years old, gay, and lived with a man for about 50 years?
His longtime companion died just a few years ago.
I didn't know all that until I looked him up just last week, due to all the publicity the movie is getting.
