Last Thursday, the postman delivered my signed/limited edition Subterranean Press copy (#155 of 474) of Tim Powers's new novel, Three Days to Never. It's only been 6 YEARS since his last novel, Declare came out, so I was really looking forward to this one.

Surprisingly, I've only read 78 pages so far. But it was a very busy weekend, and I had a ton o' shit going on. I'm planning on retiring to the bedroom in a few and see if I can get another couple chapters read before I go to bed.

Tim Powers is, IMHO, the best fantasy writer working in the English language (Garcia Marquez may be a better fantasy writer than Powers, but only just barely.) I'm impressed with the early chapters. I'll post more about it when I've finished the book.

There's six books in the Earthsea trilogy? Wow... all this time I thought there was just three.

And You haven't read His Dark Materials? Get to it! They're marketed as teen fiction, but they're so much more engrossing and philosophical compared to the churn I see on the shelves today. As result of reading the final book, my philosophies about death and the afterlife changed dramatically.
